Over seeding of an existing lawn is a regular part of lawn maintenance. Any lawn can be affected by environmental factors and wear and tear to the point where the introduction of new life to the lawn can be of benefit.
At First Lawns we use specialised slit-seeding machines to introduce seed into the turf. Seed requires moisture, warmth and soil contact to germinate well. Our machines cut a slit in the turf and the seed is pushed into this slit using either the cutting blade or a disc.
An autumn over seeding job would be as follows:
Apply a late season feed to the lawns
Over seed in two directions
Apply a lawn dressing if required
Water after one or two days in the absence of rain.
